Advanced Independence Adventure

Advanced Independence Adventure

Learn how to develop your left hand to higher levels

This Is The Advanced Independence Adventure

Welcome to this advanced independence adventure. Here we will learn how to use your left hand in more advanced ways alongside the other limbs.

Most drummers are aware that one of our biggest challenges is playing with independence between all limbs. But quite often we give our non-dominant hand (the left for a majority of us) an easier ride. We often do that because it’s difficult to use the left hand.

But that’s a problem. If we avoid it because it is difficult then we widen the gap between the useless left and the increasingly dexterous right hand. We should do the exact opposite and use our left hand more so it becomes as strong as the right.

And that is a big part of this independence drum lesson. We will learn some difficult independence patterns using the right hand predominantly and then we will flip it to make sure the left can play the exact same thing.

These grooves will make a big difference to your ambidexterity.
