Blues Shuffle Drum Backing Track

Blues Shuffle Drum Backing Track

Blues Shuffle drumless backing track for drummers

Welcome to a blues shuffle drum backing track called Don’t Come Back. This track gives you the chance to practice your blues shuffle drum beats with a playalong track minus drums.

If you’re new to the shuffle but want to get to grips with it then you might also like to work through this beginners shuffle drum course first.

But if you are ready to have some fun with a swinging shuffle blues track then let’s jump in. The tune is based on a standard 12 bar structure although the chord changes don’t follow the recognised 12 bar format. But this bar length allows you to start feeling those 12 bar phrases more naturally which is really helpful if you start gigging and have to play a blues track.

This tune starts with a more stripped back intro before developing into the main groove. It then goes twice around a melody before a 24 bar keyboard solo followed by a 24 bar organ solo. In these sections you can think about how you will develop the drum part using dynamics and different voices on the kit to build excitement for the listener.

We then reach a drum solo around ensemble stabs. That just means that the ensemble (or band) are playing some unison notes (or stabs) behind your solo. You can interpret those as you wish. You could ignore them, you could connect with all of them or you could connect with some of them. If you do connect with them will it be using a subtle bass drum or an almighty china crash? That is down to your personal musical judgement so try different ideas out.

But at first you may just want to groove through that section and get used to counting the bars, or try simple improvised solo ideas whilst trying to count the bars. Just have fun and whilst doing that you will be developing as a drummer.

Have a listen to me jamming through some of the track and then scroll down to access the MP3 blues shuffle drum backing track and the notation to help you read through it.
